John Jack Stene was born February 20, 1929 in Union County, SD to John O. and Pearl (Ronan) Stene. He died July 20, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 81 years and five months.

Jack attended Brule School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1947. He farmed with his dad. Jack married Norma Wetrosky in 1951 at Roseni Lutheran Church. He farmed in the Beresford area and was a commodity broker in Sioux City and Sioux Falls for 15 years.

Jack was a 4-H Leader for 10 years, served on the Rural School Board and was a trustee and usher at Roseni Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; three sons, David Stene and wife Deb of Sioux Falls, Mike Stene and wife Patti of Shawnee, KS and Jim Stene and wife Mary of Lenexa, KS; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Richard Stene and wife Jeannine; sister, Sandra Inberg and husband David and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and two sisters and their husbands, Delores and Bob Greene and Darlene and Cliff Nelson.

Memorial services will be 10AM Saturday, July 24th at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with a prayer service at 7PM.
