John Mundfrom was born October 17, 1950 in Austin, MN to parents Gerald and Margaret (Lindquist) Mundfrom. He passed away March 29, 2014 at his home in Beresford, South Dakota at the age of 63. John graduated from Kimball High School in 1968. He attended Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Plymouth, MN and later graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1974 with a degree in Political Science and Broadcasting. He married Lorilee Torgerson on January 5, 1974. John worked at KFNW radio station in Fargo, ND as the news and traffic director for five years. He then returned to the Association Free Lutheran Bible School where he was Dean of Men for two years and eventually graduated from the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary. He served at Calvary Lutheran Church in Eben Junction, MI, Calvary Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Beulah, ND, Spencer Creek Lutheran Church in Eugene, OR and was currently serving at Skrefsrud Lutheran Church in rural Beresford, SD. John gave his life to serving God and was very active in the local district of the Association Free Lutheran Church. He coached little league baseball and youth basketball, was a former Kiwanis member, and enjoyed golfing and attending sporting events of all kinds. He was an avid fan of the Oregon Ducks, the University of North Dakota and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He also participated in Special Olympics as a unified partner with his son Joshua in bowling. He was preceded in death by his father and his daughter Deborah, in infancy. Survivors include his mother Margaret Mundfrom, Kenyon, MN; wife Lorilee Mundfrom, Beresford, SD, two sons, Timothy Mundfrom, Eugene, OR and Joshua Mundfrom, Beresford, SD; two brothers, Daniel (Elaine) Mundfrom, Richmond, KY and Stephen (Joanne) Mundfrom, Valley City, ND; three sisters, Ruth (Mark) Antal, Park River, ND, Rachel (Bill) Chesley, Mesa, AZ and Priscilla (Martin) Horn, Kenyon, MN; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Living Word Free Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. The burial will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 4 at Vang Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls, MN.
