Joel Thomas Oberg, of Beresford, SD, passed away at his home on April 9, 2022 at the age of 63.  Joel's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Joel Oberg was born in Sioux Falls, SD on November 7, 1958 to parents, Darrell and Virginia (Huffman) Oberg.  He was raised in Sioux Falls until they moved to Elk Point where he attended Elk Point school.  He met and married the love of his life, Joyce Jahn on August 20, 1988, they were blessed with their 3 children.

Joel was a hard worker and was a welder, millwright and a jack-of-all-trades.  He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, camping and spending time his friends, drinking beer and telling stories.  His 3 kids and 3 grandkids were his pride and joy.

Joel is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 33 ½ years; his children, Kelly Cottrell, Kimball, SD, Darrell (Kaitlynn) Oberg, Howard, SD, and Jennifer Oberg, Beresford, SD; his grandson, Blake; 2 granddaughters, Elena and Peyton; his mother, Virginia Oberg, Sioux City, IA; his 5 brothers, Dave (Judy) Oberg, Jefferson, SD, Jeff Oberg, Akron, IA, Mark Oberg, Sioux City, IA, Todd Oberg, Yankton, SD and Chris (Cindy) Oberg, Sioux City, IA; his honorary parents, Larry and Connie Rosenbaum, Elk Point, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell; sister, Penny; niece, Tiffani; nephew, Chris; both sets of grandparents; and his in-laws, Elmer and Lois Jahn.
