Joe A. Vik, 66, passed away March 14, 2021 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD with his wife by his side.  He was born January 22, 1955 in Hawarden, IA to Clarence and Sylvia (Solberg) Vik.  He graduated from Alcester High School, class of 1973.

Joe was a long-time bartender in Alcester, and was known for his friendly personality and jokes.  He loved to play cards and dice games and cheer on his Green Bay Packers.  On May 24, 1980, he married the love of his life, Susan Allen, in Hawarden, IA.  The couple had 40 years together and from this union, 3 sons were born, William "Bill" (Christin), Colton (Mikayla) and Dustin (Bradie). During her high school years, Stephanie Lowther McCoy (Brian) came to live with the family for a short while and became the daughter Joe always wanted.

Joe is survived by wife, Susan; his children; 10 grandchildren; sister, Leanne Griner; and father-in-law William Allen.  Joe dearly loved his wife, children and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia (Solberg) Offerdahl; brother, Eldean Anderson; grandson, Trenton; and mother-in-law, Karen (Nordquist- Allen) Bennett.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for in May.
