Joseph Jeremiah "Joe" Manning, 89, of Beresford, South Dakota passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Bethesda of Beresford.

He was born November 30, 1926 to Jeremiah and Ellen (Kribell) Manning in Union County, rural Beresford, SD. Joe attended Emmet Country School and graduated from the eighth grade. After graduating from the eighth grade he began farming as a young man. He enjoyed feeding cattle and hogs.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmet until its closing in 1976. He then became a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Beresford. Joe cared for his parents until their deaths and continued to live on the family farm until he entered Bethesda Nursing Home on February 1, 2012.

His parents, Jeremiah and Ellen; brother, Gerald "Mike" Manning and three sisters, Colette Sweeney, Patricia McGarry and Mary Steen preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Madonna Manning of Beresford and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be 10:30AM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-5PM at Wass Funeral Home and continuing at the church with the family present from 6-8PM and a prayer service at 7:30PM.
