Obituary

Jerry Lee Null, 69, of Centerville, SD, entered into heaven on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Jerry was born on December 25, 1952, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Virgil Null and Jacqueline (Kaufmann) Null. Jerry was the oldest of three children.

Jerry attended Rose Cottage Country School for almost eight years until his family bought a farm north of Centerville, South Dakota. He continued school in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 1971. During high school he enjoyed participating in track, choir, band, football, and basketball. He still holds the record for the 110-meter hurdles. Following high school, he attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Agronomy in 1975. His highlight in college was traveling to Europe for a 30-day music tour with the Statesmen Choir.

Jerry married the love of his life, Linda Marie Parker, on September 8, 1979 in Sioux Falls, SD. That year they moved to their forever farm eight miles south of Lennox, SD where they raised livestock and grew corn and soybeans. This is also where they raised their children, Michelle and Stephanie. After welcoming their first two children they experienced great loss with the passing of their son, Clinton, and daughter, Catherine.

Jerry's love of the land was nestled deep in his heart and this was evident to anyone that knew him. He started helping on the farm by driving the tractor and truck at the tender age of seven years old. He relished the freedom of working on the land and had a deep appreciation for mother nature. Even through the various years of extreme challenges brought by drought, flooding, hail, harsh winters and low market prices he remained optimistic about what was forthcoming. Jerry had just finished his harvest for the year.

Jerry treasured classic cars and enjoyed music and singing. His 1966 Chevelle Malibu was a prized possession. He deeply cherished his family, friends and all animals. Jerry had a very rare and unique ability to make a positive impression on everyone he met. He was loyal, kind and took the time to listen to your story. Many friends would say "he was one of the good guys". He was extremely proud to have the recent opportunity to sing with the Statesmen Alumni and the SDSU Choir at the Jacks Football Game. He was also practicing to sing the Christmas Cantata this year with his daughter Michelle and grandson Evan.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Null, and two children, Michelle (James) Johnson, Stephanie (Aaron) Krumvieda, grandchildren: Kylee, Tyler, Evan, and Rhiannon Johnson and Katalien and Kora Krumvieda, his sister Nancy (Tom) Forchtner, his brother Steven Null (Mary Hallberg), brothers-in-law Gary (Patty) Parker and Bruce (Julie) Parker, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog Kingsley. He was preceded in death by his two children Clinton and Catherine Null, his parents Virgil and Jacqueline Null, along with grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles.
