Jeff W. Nelson was born August 9, 1955 in Minnehaha County, South Dakota to Wylum and Audrey (Wheeldon) Nelson. He died January 11, 2017 in Alcester, SD at the age of 61 years, five months and two days.

Jeff graduated from Tri-Valley High School in Colton, SD where he played baseball and was a wrestler. He worked for Mid Continental Waterproofing as a steeplejack all over the United States. He married Jean Davey March 25, 1979. Jeff returned to farm south of Hurley, SD. In 1986 he married Pam Kittelson and they moved to California. There Jeff worked with his father and brother's business, Nelson Brothers Tile, where they installed floor coverings.

He returned to South Dakota and soon settled in the Alcester area. He restored a home near Big Springs, SD before moving into Alcester in 1996. Jeff was a hard worker and also liked to play hard. He was a member of the Irene Blues league baseball team and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jeff loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his five children, Adrian (AJ) and Tami Nelson and their children, Gage and Journey; Summer Kittelson and Richard Kadera and their children, Tyler and Kailyn; Derek and Christina Nelson and their children, Anthony, Alexander and Abigail; Tiffany Nelson and Ardie Knighten Sr. and their son Ardie,Jr.; and Jeffrey Nelson, Jr. Also surviving are his siblings, Val Larson, Melanie Reiners Haak and her husband, Greg, Jami and Doug Larson, Jody Topping, Kathy Merritt, Pamela Nelson and her husband, Tino III, Michel Nelson and his wife, Michele, Patty Nelson and her husband, Chris and Richard Nelson and his wife, Natasha; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and two nephews, Tyler and Lawson Larson, preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be 10:30AM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Bethany Reformed Church, 702 W 7th Street, Canton, SD. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Friday at the church.
