Jeanne Dorothy Orr was born August 8, 1927 in near Waupaca, WI to parents George and Edna (Myhre) Polly. She died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 8, 2011 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 84 years and 2 months. Jeanne graduated from Waupaca High School and then attended a business school for bookkeeping. She married Ward Orr on March 30, 1946. The couple lived in Wisconsin and Iowa. They moved to the Beresford, SD area in 1962. Jeanne was a homemaker and helped her husband with the family business. Ward died in 2006 and Jeanne continued to live on the farm until the present time. Jeanne was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a Sunday School teacher in Wisconsin. She was currently a member of Roseni Lutheran Church of rural Beresford. Jeanne was a loyal and devoted mother and grandmother. She faithfully followed her children and grandchildren's activities and loved spending time with them. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Susan in infancy and her brother Arden Polly. Her survivors include two daughters: Nancy Hayen of Sioux Falls and Sherry McGill and husband Vince of Sergeant Bluff, IA; four sons: Larry Orr and wife Tami of Beresford, Rick Orr and wife Cindy of Sioux Falls, Randy Orr of Alcester, and Steve Orr and wife Shelia of Beresford; 12 grandchildren: Wendy Guzman, Jessica Seivert, Melissa D'Silva, Kelli Britton, Kara Tague, Michael Orr, Nicole Bouwman, Abbie Orr, Allie Orr, Thomas Zachary Orr, Elijah Orr, and Maxwell Orr; 8 great grandchildren: Sophie and Lily Seivert, Saia and Ariana D'Silva, Stella Jean and Clara Britton, Theo Tague and August Bouwman; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In Lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Roseni Lutheran Church, 47226 307 Street, Beresford, SD Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, October 12 at Roseni Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
