Jean B. Wanamaker, age 75 of Centerville, South Dakota died on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, South Dakota. She was born June 11, 1932 in Centerville to Vernon and Palma (Tysdal) Squires. Jean graduated from Centerville High School in May 1950 and attended Springfield State where she completed her certification to teach in rural schools. After one year of teaching, Jean married John Dix Wanamaker. She was a homemaker and later became the bookkeeper for the Motor Inn Garage in Centerville. Jean enjoyed league bowling, trap shooting and riding her horse, Buck. She volunteered her time at Good Samaritan Center in Centerville shining residents shoes. Her parents and her brother, Wayne preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Willoughby and her husband, Doug of Columbus, NE and Kathryn Carmody and her husband, Joe of Sioux Falls; four grandsons: Spencer and Mitchell Helms and Neil and Van Carmody; four great-grandchildren: Andrew, Taylor, Bryce and Wyatt; one sister, Marilyn Clark; two brothers, Leigh and his wife, Deb Squires and Kent Squires and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Jean will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the UCC of Centerville, in Centerville, SD with Pastor Elaine Miller officiating.
