Jean Pluim Stenstrom was born November 15, 1928 to John and Tillie (Mol) Pluim in Sioux County, Iowa. She went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2015. She grew up in Alton, Iowa before attending beauty school. She owned her own beauty shop in Inwood, Iowa in 1950. Roger Stenstrom and Jean were married on January 22, 1951. They farmed near Alcester until they retired into Alcester in 1988. Jean was active in Big Springs Baptist Church by holding many offices. She taught Sunday school, led GMG girls club, helped with high school and Women's Missionary Society for many years. Her faith was very important to her as was her family. Jean also belonged to the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine of Sioux Falls and son, Gary (Cindy) of Yankton; granddaughters, Hannah (Sean) Zimmerman and Britta (Jake) Stucky all of Yankton; two great-granddaughters, Kenley Stucky and Hadley Zimmerman; two brothers, Art and Orville (Audrey) Pluim along with nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents and a sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Big Springs Baptist Church. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester with the family present from 5-7PM.
