Jean Gladys (Jensen) Saugstad was born August 17, 1941 in Hudson, South Dakota to parents Raymond and Gladys (Torkelson) Jensen. She passed away October 30, 2020 at Dougherty House at the age of 79 years, two months and 13 days.

Jean was raised and attended school in Beresford, graduating from Beresford High School. She married Leland Saugstad on December 9, 1959. She worked for many years at K-Products in Hawarden, Iowa. She and Leland traveled to many places while Leland was in the South Dakota Air National Guard.

She had many loves in her life, her flowers and gardening, Elvis Presley, cooking and baking for family holidays, word search and crossword puzzles, but most of all, Jean loved her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Ryan (Teresa) Saugstad of South Sioux City, NE and Erik (Angie) Saugstad of Beresford; her grandkids, Heather, Ashley, Jonathan, Dayton, Devan, Dawson, Isaac and Rachel; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Beckett and Hayes; her sister, Cynthia of Centerville; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Saugstad. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Ronnie and Jason; her parents, a brother, Ed; and one sister, Rozan.

A memorial service will be held at 7PM on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.  Visitation with the family present will be 5-7PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in Jean's name may be directed to your local humane society.
