Jean Marie Keiser entered into eternal rest peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2020 at her winter home in Mesa, AZ at the age of 67 years. A private family Funeral Mass and burial was held on March 20. A Celebration of Life Wake service for Jean will be held at 11:00 AM, August 8, 2020 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford, SD. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:45AM with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 10:45. The Wake service will include a time of sharing for guests to relate the good memories they have of Jean. All Covid-19 rules on social distancing are strongly encouraged, as well as wearing masks, especially when greeting the family. Please adhere to the 3 H's…no handshakes, no hugs, no high fives. This event will be livestreamed on facebook page: St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church Beresford SD.
Jean Marie Oberle was born April 22, 1952 in Breckenridge, MN to Clayton and Marvis "Peggy" (Mead) Oberle. She was the second of six children. Jean was raised in Bristol, SD and attended Bristol school, graduating in 1970. Jean attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, graduating with an Associates of Science degree in registered nursing. She started her nursing career at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. After moving to Philip, SD she worked at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital and the Philip Medical Clinic in Philip, SD. After moving to Gettysburg, SD she worked at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital. After moving to Beresford, SD she worked at Morningside Manor in Alcester, SD, Central Plains Clinic in Beresford, SD, Lutheran Social Services at Woodfield Center in Beresford, SD, Avera McKennan Clinic Operations in Sioux Falls, SD, and Dakota Valley Schools in North Sioux City, SD. Along with her nursing career, she managed, along with her husband, their video rental business for several years.
Jean married Leo Alan Keiser on June 23, 1972 in Bristol, SD. They were blessed with two children, Michele and Rhonda.
Jean was a devout Catholic and was very active in her church. She was a Sunday School teacher, she sang in the choir, was a past member of Catholic Daughter's, and volunteered for numerous church functions. Jean was fortunate to be involved with the Knights of Columbus through Leo's membership. They attended 33 consecutive state conventions and were privileged to represent South Dakota at 8 Supreme conventions throughout the United States.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother always ensuring everyone had everything they needed, all their sewing repairs completed, and no one went hungry. She took many trips with her eldest grandson Austin, and enjoyed being able to help raise him throughout his childhood. She also took great pride in putting together t-shirt quilts and attending sporting events for her younger two grandsons, Alek and Carson. Jean was an avid sports fan cheering on the local high school teams and the Minnesota Vikings. She loved to spend time with family and friends, read, spend time on her iPad, and travel. She was proud to say she had been to 43 states.
Grateful for sharing her life is her husband of 47 years, Leo of Beresford, SD; two daughters, Michele Peck of Dakota Dunes, SD and Rhonda Keiser of Tea, SD; three grandsons, Austin Keiser of Sioux Falls, SD, Alek Peck of Dakota Dunes, SD and Carson Peck of Dakota Dunes, SD; mother, Marvis "Peggy" Oberle of Bristol, SD; three brothers, Tom (Monica) Oberle of Bristol, SD, Bob Oberle of Custer, SD, Don (Mindy) Oberle of Sioux City, IA; two sisters, Mary Beth (Marc) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD and Bev (Chris) Jessen of Sioux Falls, SD; 14 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Oberle.
