Obituary

This is the story of Jason Allen Stevens. Jason's journey came to an end suddenly in his home surrounded by his wife and children on March 25th, 2019.

Jason's story began on April 16th, 1972. The oldest child and only son to Allen and Carol (Carlson) Stevens. Jason was the first grandchild born to both sets of Grandparents. He was a very loved and special boy. He started helping Grandpa Ernie at a very young age and was already driving the tractor by the time he was 6 years old. As a child, Jason loved watching Popeye and eating spinach out of the can. He had a passion for Star Wars, Legos, going to the races with his Dad and his uncle Doug, Boston Celtics, and was the best big brother to his little sisters. Jason grew up and went to school in Centerville where he made many memories and lifelong friends.

After high school, Jason joined the Air National Guard. He worked full time and distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service while assigned to the 114th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Joe Foss Field. Master Sergeant Jason Stevens retired July 31, 2018 with 26 years of faithful military service. He continued to work as a federal employee at the base, thus providing the opportunity for him to proudly grow a full beard.

Jason married his best friend and the love of his life, Andrea Walz on June 15, 1996. Jason and Andrea enjoyed years of fishing, camping, and they were always looking for adventure. He had a passion for cooking and he cleverly crafted handmade keychains by repurposing flatware. Jason had a knack for "figuring things out". He was very clever and had a quick wit. He is known for his contagious laugh that was inherited by his Grandpa Stevens and his Dad. Jason was a very loyal and proud fan of the New England Patriots. His children remember him as having a special place in his heart and a love for animals. He loved teaching them about archery and target practice.

Loved ones that will miss Jason until they meet again are his wife Andrea of 22 years, daughters Stephanie, Megan, Kayla, and son AJ, Centerville; Mother Carol, Centerville; Sisters Angie Stevens and Fiance Jeff Read, Milroy MN; Kristen (Greg) Birgen, Centerville; In-Laws Alan and Bertha Walz, Centerville; Sister-in-laws Anita (Brandon) Beck, Hurley; Tammy (Jim) Hill, Oak Harbor, Washington; Many Nieces & Nephews, Aunts & Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

Jason is preceded in death by his Father, Allen Stevens, Grandparents Max and Avis Carlson and Ernie and Delores Stevens.

Visitation will be 6-8PM Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville in the fellowship hall with a prayer service at 7PM. His funeral service with military honors will be 2PM Friday at Scandia Lutheran Church.
