Janice Hedeen, 79, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at her home in Beresford, SD.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 6, 2020 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, January 5 at Wass Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 5:30 PM.

Janice Lee Johnson was born June 23, 1940 in Canton, SD to Elmer and Alice Johnson.  She was baptized in the Canton Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in 1954 in Beresford.  She attended Canton rural schools and Beresford High School where she graduated in 1958.  She attended Nettleton Community College in Sioux Falls, SD.  Jan married Dennis Hedeen on July 30, 1960 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Beresford.

Jan and Dennis raised their family in Beresford forming Hedeen's Floor Covering and Jan worked at numerous local restaurants.  She enjoyed making denim quilts for the family, collecting antique glassware, western movies and books, and spending time with church circle ladies and quilting groups.  She also enjoyed day outings with family and friends to local events.

Janice is survived by her children, Glenn (Lisa) Hedeen, Alcester, SD, John (Shirley) Hedeen, Harrisburg, SD, Richard (Sarah) Hedeen, Sioux Falls, SD, Diane (Doug) Anderson, Ewing, NE, Craig Hedeen, Sioux Falls, SD and LeAnn (Le) Crowell, Sioux Falls, SD; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; her brother Verlyn; grandson, Kyle and her great-grandson, Lawrence.
