Funeral services for Irving Frick will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Irving Monroe Frick was born March 29, 1918 in rural Beresford, South Dakota to parents Joseph E. and Nina E. (Hedman) Frick. He died October 31, 2008 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 90 years, seven months and two days.

Irving attended Newdale grade school and Beresford High School. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps from May 1942 to November 1945. He married Lila Lee in Sioux City, IA and they had one daughter, Rox-Anne. This marriage ended in 1950.

Irving met and dated Arlene Marjene Jensen in 1951 and they married in March 1952. Irving farmed on a farm in rural Beresford all his adult life, retiring in 1980. They sold the farm and moved into Beresford in 1996. Arlene died in July 1998.

He was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church, a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 72, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. His interests included bowling and fresh water fishing. Irving went fishing annually in Canada and enjoyed wintering in Texas and Arizona.

He is survived by four children, Rox-Anne Cook of Wichita, KS, Steve (Jolene) Frick of Walker, MN, Carol (Dan) Thissell of Beresford, Cathy (Ed) Skokan of Reno, NV; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Frick of Beresford and Lois Jensen of Cambridge, MN; brother-in-law, Sophus (Marge) Jensen of Beresford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His parents; wife; brother, Stanley; sister, Marilyn and son-in-law, Howard Cook preceded him in death.
