Funeral services for Irvin Heimes will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. The family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will have a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Irvin Heimes was born April 26, 1922 at Bow Valley, Nebraska to parents Frank and Antonetta (Foerster) Heimes. He died May 19, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the age of 84 years and 23 days. Irvin was raised and attended school in Nebraska. He married Marian Johnson on November 29, 1947 in Union County, SD. They lived in Vermillion until 1952 when they moved to the Beresford area. In 1963 they purchased a farm in Lincoln County and Irvin lived there until January of this year. He was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church and the Siouxland Two Cylinder Club. Irvin enjoyed rebuilding John Deere tractors and going to tractor shows with Marian and his family. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Harold Heimes and one sister, Julia OConnor. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Marian Heimes of Centerville; two sons, Charles (Deb) Heimes of Sioux Falls and Robert Heimes of Centerville; two daughters, Nancy (Mike) Means of Irvine, CA and JoAnn Heimes of Rock Springs, WY; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three step great granddaughters; one sister, Dorothy Tramp of Yankton; and two sisters-in-law, Veronica Heimes of Vermillion and Wilma Johnson of Laverne, CA.
