Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3rd at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ileen V. Tollefson was born March 18, 1918 in rural Lincoln County near Beresford, SD to parents Chris and Minnie (Lee) Jensen. She died April 28, 2006 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 10 days. Ileen attended school in the Beresford area. She married Harold Tolly Tollefson on October 1, 1940. The couple purchased Macs Caf in 1940 and operated it until 1947. In December of 1958 they opened Tollys Caf in downtown Beresford. In May of 1965 Tolly and Ileen opened their caf by Interstate 29 and operated it until their retirement in October of 1974. Tolly passed away in 1980 and Ileen continued to reside in Beresford until the present time. Ileen was baptized in the Methodist faith and later became a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Among her hobbies were playing cards. She loved to play Canasta and spent countless hours playing with friends and family. Ileen was well known for her baking and cooking skills. She spent many long days at Macs and Tollys baking pies and cooking meals for thousands of people. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Ray and 4 sisters. Isabelle, Evelyn, Esther and Ruth. Her survivors include two sons: Paul Tollefson of Beresford and Ron Tollefson and wife Diane of Alexandria, VA; 4 grandchildren: Tim Tollefson of Emmett, ID, Christine Tollefson and husband Chris Nehls of Williamsburg, VA, and Kevin and Gregory Tollefson both of Alexandria, VA; daughter-in-law Liz Hubbel and husband Howard of Brandon, SD; brother Ernie Jensen and wife Shirley of Beresford; sister Leona Bird of Denver, CO and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
