Grace L. Strand was born April 8, 1921 in Dalesburg, SD to parents John and Ida (Nelson) Dahlin. She died May 2, 2010 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 89 years and 24 days.

Grace married Orville Strand on May 29, 1939 at Yankton, SD. The couple farmed in the Vermillion, Wakonda, and Centerville areas until 1975 when they retired and moved into Centerville. They were married for over 50 years. Besides her husband, her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always enjoyed visiting with them and would have given them the world if she could.

Grace was baptized and confirmed at Dalesburg Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. She was also a member of the Beresford VFW Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years.

Among those who gratefully shared her life are her seven children: Jerry (Kay) Strand, Beresford, Mary (Jerold) Voegeli, Beresford, Robert (Shirley) Strand, Beresford, Glenn (Pat) Strand, Sioux Falls, Glennetta (Ron) Hustrulid, Beresford, LuAnn (Ron) Swanson, Beresford and Keith Strand, Centerville; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and an expected great-great grandchild; one sister Ardis Knudson, Beresford; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson Jason, and 14 siblings.

Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Thursday, May 6 at Scandia Lutheran Church, Centerville, with burial at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM and a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
