Gordon Pedersen was born August 6, 1933 in Beresford, SD to parents Martin and Marie (Jensen) Pedersen. He died June 17, 2012 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 11 days. He grew up in Beresford and received his education there. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and currently a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Gordon served during the Korean War in the US Navy from 1952-1956. Gordon was united in marriage with Marjorie Korslund in Sioux Falls in 1958. They made their home in Beresford for 53 years. For 46 years Gordon operated Gordon Pedersen Welding. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was a volunteer fireman for the Beresford Fire Department for 16 years. He enjoyed restoring Model A cars and pickups. He liked repairing machinery and enjoyed going to coffee with his friends and taking care of his pets. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marjorie; daughters and their families, Kelly (Mark) Solberg of Cambridge, MN and their sons, Matt, Sam, Nick and John; Angie (Ed) Poll of Centerville and their daughter, Marisa; and Anissa (Sam) Grawe of San Rafael, CA and their son, Gunner; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. His son, Chris; sisters, Isabel and Florence; brothers, Forrest and Dale and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 2PM Friday, June 22, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be 2-8PM Thursday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 7-8PM.
