Memorial services for Gloria Nygaard will be 11AM Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 6-98PM Tuesday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. Gloria Nygaard was born June 15, 1926 in Lincoln County, South Dakota to Raymond and Mae (Gubbrud) Rime. She died October 12, 2013 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 87 years, three months and 27 days. Gloria was raised on the family farm in the Romsdal area northeast of Beresford. She attended Plainview country school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1943. She attended college at Augustana and SDSU before working as a civil service secretary at the Sioux Falls Air Base during WWII. After Gloria married Norman Nygaard on June 15, 1947 she worked at times for Marty Miller in the law office in Beresford. Playing piano and singing were favorites for Gloria. She sang in the church choir, was in music club and study club in Beresford. Gloria also enjoyed oil painting and traveling. She went to Europe and seven times to Norway where she visited with extended family living there. Surviving family includes her daughter, Sandra Brust of Yorktown, VA; two sons, Jay Nygaard of Beresford and Scott Nygaard of Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Matthew Brust and Sonjia (Jeremy) Moldenhauer; four great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Everett (Joan) Nygaard of Beresford. Her parents and husband, Norman, preceded her in death.
