Glen "Mike" Calvin Bovill was born September 20, 1925 in Beresford, South Dakota to parents John M. and Elizabeth (Bates) Bovill. He entered into death September 27, 2017 at the age of 92 years.

Mike was raised northeast of Beresford where he attended country school and Beresford High School. He moved to California his junior year of high school and in February 1944 joined the US Marine Corps where he served in WWII. He moved back to Beresford in May 1946 after his honorable discharge and married Virginia Smith on December 17, 1947.

They farmed until 1956 and moved to California for eight months before returning to Beresford. Mike worked for Lantaff Beverage until 1958, then the Mobil service station business. In 1963 he began his career at the Farmer's Elevator. He was a member of the Beresford American Legion Post #72 and the Forty and Eight Voiture 129. Mike loved social activities and in his spare time he liked to golf, bowl and play pool.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene; brothers, Wendell and Roy; grandson, Michael; and great-granddaughter, Bailey.

His life was gratefully shared with his wife of 69 years, Virginia Smith Bovill of Beresford; sons, Danny (Cindy) Bovill of Ingleside, IL and Calvin Bovill of Sioux Falls; daughter, Michele (Bill) Murphy of Sioux City, IA, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, Sept. 30th at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
