Gladys L. Twedt, of Beresford, SD, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2012 at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 14 days. She was born near Beresford on September 30, 1920 to parents Arvid and Amanda (Peterson) Sundlof. She married Milton Twedt on February 19, 1947 and they resided in Beresford. She worked at several local businesses where she enjoyed getting to know the families of the community. Milton passed away in 1993. Gladys continued to live in town and has resided the last three years at Bethesda Nursing Home. Gladys attended Brooklyn rural school and Centerville High School. As a young woman, she sang and traveled in the area with the Rev. J.H. Mars evangelistic team that held meetings in the area and had regular Christian radio broadcasts on WNAX. Gladys attended Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church all her life where she was involved in choir, Bible studies, and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Tuesday Sues extension club and the Beresford VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Pamela Ruth, and special family friend Barry Matson. Grateful for sharing her life are her four children: Norman Twedt of Beresford, Patricia Twedt of Vermillion, Constance Twedt of Vermillion, Glenyce and her husband Terry Hagen of Hartington, NE; her two grandchildren, Heidi Hagen of Sioux Falls and Heather and her husband Andy Peters of Spalding, NE. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church, rural Beresford, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 PM to 7 PM with family present from 6 PM to 7 PM and a prayer service beginning at 7 PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.
