Gladys R. Otten, age 91, of Spink, SD died November 27, 2007 at the Akron Care Center. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester, SD. Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday. Gladys was born May 23, 1916 in Canton, SD to Nels and Anna (Larsen) Hansen. She was raised and educated in Canton. Gladys married John Otten, Sr. on June 25, 1939 in Canton, SD. They lived in Canton and Hudson before moving to the Spink, SD area in 1949. They farmed until the early 1980s. Following Johns death on August 3, 1995 Gladys continued to live in the Spink area. She loved reading, watching birds and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Otten, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Spink, SD; three grandchildren, Wanda Yager and her husband, Rick of Madison, SD, Wil Otten of Knoxville, TN and Sam Otten and Rhonda Harms of Spink, SD; seven grandchildren, Dillon, Desi, Devin and Dasia Yager and Sklyer, Kainan and Ashton Otten. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
