Gary Dean Hofland, 67, passed away Sunday February 12, 2017 at his home in Hawarden, IA. He was born November 1949 to Merlin and Delores (Ranum) Hofland in Akron IA. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elk Point SD. He attended South Spink Country School and graduated from Akron High School, Akron IA. Gary was employed at Higman Sand and Gravel for many years. Gary has been attending Big Springs Baptist Church Alcester SD for several years.

He is survived by his mother, brother Steve (Paula) Hofland, Elk Point, sister Deb Iverson, Elk Point, brother Richard Hofland, Elk Point, sister Kathy (Jim) Ewoldt, Sioux

City, an aunt Lavonne Lundgren, Sioux City, and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father Merlin, grandparents Ed and Minnie Hofland, and Irvy and Blanda Ranum, and nephew Jeremy Iverson.
