Gary Lee Carlson

Gary Carlson was born October 8 ^th , 1956 in Vermillion, SD to parents Roscoe and Lois Carlson. He died December 7 ^th , 2022 in his home at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 30 days.

Gary graduated Beresford High School in 1974. After graduation, he worked in construction with his uncles and brothers. He farmed and also had a dairy. In 1987 he graduated from Colorado Aero Tech with an Air Frame and Power Plant degree in Aviation Maintenance. He was stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War in 1991 as an aviation mechanic for Beech Aerospace. His passions were airplanes and hotrods, going to car shows and teaching his kids to be strong in all aspects of life. We will be forever thankful for his instruction. We enjoyed learning his passions for mechanics and construction. His cornerstone of life-knowledge will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his son Johnathan Carlson, parents Roscoe and Lois Carlson, and his loving wife Katie Carlson.

Grateful to have shared in his life are his children, Jeremy (Kris) Carlson of Beresford, Josh (Audri) Carlson of Alcester, Jordyn Butcher of Alcester, step sons Kevin Thurston and Keith (Julie) Thurston of New Hampshire. Grandchildren: John and Jayden Carlson, Stormi and Summer Carlson, Chelsea and Ellie Thurston. Siblings: Ron (Sandy) Carlson, Patty Buechler, and Don (Elma) Carlson.

A service will be held at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford Saturday, December 17 ^th at 10 am. Family visitation will start at 9 am. Fellowship will follow at Komstad Church (29987 University Rd). In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Michael J Fox foundation https://give.michaeljfox.org/give/421686/#!/donation/checkout for Parkinson's research.
