Funeral services for G. Wayne Reinmuth will be at 2PM on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, SD. Visitation will be Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester from 2-8PM with the family present from 7-8PM and a prayer service at 7PM. Memorials may be directed to Nathanael Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or Siouxland Hospice.
G. Wayne Reinmuth was born May 29, 1923 in Troy, SD to Rev. G. W. and Velma (Ford) Reinmuth. He died July 3, 2009 in Alcester, SD at the age of 86 years, one month and four days.
Wayne spent his childhood in Willow Lake and Edgemont, SD before moving to Alcester. He graduated from Alcester High School in 1941. Wayne attended Yankton College for one year then joined the US Navy in 1942. He served in the US Coast Guard Reserve until June 1946.
In September 1946 he married Lila Marie Anderson. They moved to Rapid City where Wayne finished his education at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, earning a degree in electrical engineering in 1949.
Wayne worked for General Electric in Richland, WA for 11 years and subsequently for the Atomic Energy Commission and Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C. for 24 years before retiring in 1984.
In 1988 Wayne and Lila moved back to Alcester. Wayne was an avid builder, refurbishing and enlarging their Alcester home. He enjoyed stamp collecting and building model airplanes.
He is survived by his wife, Lila of Alcester; three children, Bonnie (Tom) Clark of Colorado Springs, CO, Bruce (Aggie) Reinmuth of Alexandria, VA and Dale (Linda) Reinmuth of Mechanicsville, MD; three grandchildren, Jill Reinmuth of Alexandria, VA, Colleen (Ron) Hopwood of Castle Rock, CO and Rebecca (Robert) McBride of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Loris Crawford of Williamsport, MD; and brother, Dennis (Elaine) Reinmuth of Ann Arbor, MI.
His parents, sister, Loy Dennis and brother, Wendell Reinmuth preceded him in death.
