Freda Ludwig was born June 17, 1910 in Beresford, South Dakota to parents Fred and Minnie (Peterson) Graverson. She died July 16, 2009 at Morningside Care Center in Alcester, SD at the age of 99 years and 29 days.

Freda attended Newdale rural school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1927. She worked for 10 years as a telephone operator in Alsen, SD. She married Roy Ludwig in 1937. The couple resided on a farm south of Alcester until their retirement when they moved in to Alcester. Roy died in 1995 and Freda has continued to live in Alcester until the present time.

Freda was baptized and confirmed at Dalesburg Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Opti-Misses club for over 50 years.

She is survived her nieces and nephews: Jerry Amundson, MN, Duane, Bruce, and Donald Ludwig of CA, Dennis Ludwig of CO, Robert Ludwig of WA and Mary Peterson, Akron, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three siblings, Martin, Oscar and Sylvia.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM, Friday, July 31 at Peace Lutheran Church, Alcester with burial at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Alcester. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
