Fred Otto Heinzman was born October 31, 1913 on a farm south of Beresford, SD that he lived his entire life on, to parents Fred and Lina (Broesamle) Heinzman. He died September 2, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 1 day. Fred attended school in Beresford. He then began his lifelong career as a farmer. He entered the United States Army on July 11, 1942 and served in Europe during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge on December 15, 1945 he returned to Beresford. Fred resumed farming and raising livestock and worked until ill health forced him to retire last year. Fred was baptized in Richland, SD and was currently a member of the Beresford United Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to be around children. He liked to share stories about his journeys in life. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Bill Heinzman, great nephew Scott Heinzman and great, great nephew Tanner Copeland. He is survived by his niece Carol Smith of Alcester; 2 nephews, Don Heinzman of Beresford and Bob Heinzman of Mississippi; and many great and great, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the Beresford United Church of Christ with burial at the Beresford Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5PM to 8PM with family present from 7PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
