Frances G. Reiners was born September 5, 1916 in rural Lake County, SD to parents Chester and Tena (Hanson) Hankins. She died September 5, 2009 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center at 93 years of age.
Frances attended country schools in Turner County. She married Otto Reiners in March of 1937. The couple farmed until 1960 and then moved to Centerville. She did egg candling in Viborg and worked at the Good Samaritan Center and for the bakery. She also did painting and wall papering for people in and around the Centerville area. Otto died in September of 2001 and Frances continued to live here until her death.
Frances was a member of the United Church of Christ. She loved music and enjoyed singing and dancing. She also liked to entertain company and was known for hosting Sunday dinners and her wonderful homemade pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two great grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
Her survivors include her three sons: Eugene Reiners and wife Carolyn of Centerville; Jim Reiners of Centerville, Robert Reiners and wife Joyce of Hartford, SD; two daughters: Norma Friedrichs of Centerville and Sharon Smidt and husband Jim of Freeman; her sister Dorothy Larson of Centerville; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, September 10 at the United Church of Christ in Centerville, SD, with burial to follow at the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM with family present from 7PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
