Florence Margaret Hartman Green was born March 6, 1928, Akron, Iowa to Harry "Hie" Hartman and Anna " Annie" K. Beckman Hartman. She and her twin sister Fern were born at home.

She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa on April 8, 1928. Florence's family eventually moved to rural Alcester, South Dakota where she was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church. Florence attended Cole Country School then attended and graduated from Alcester High School.

Florence married Francis E. Green on March 24, 1948 in a double wedding along with her twin Fern and Arthur Peterson at Peace Lutheran Church. They had five children together and lived on various farms around the north side of Alcester.

Florence was a wonderful housewife and mother. She devoted herself to her family. They were married for almost 42 years. Francis passed in February of 1990. Florence, was a caregiver to family and to several people in her community. She would go to their home and take care of them so that they could remain in their homes.

She also worked for a period of time at the Alcester school system in the nutrition department. Florence was a member of Peace Lutheran ladies aid, VFW Auxiliary, BCNU ladies club, and many others. Florence was a talented crafter; she could make most anything she set her mind to.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; daughter, Cynthia; parents, Harry and Annie Hartman; siblings, Marvin, Norman, Lillian, Shirley, Edward and Esther.

She is survived by children, Judy (Darrel) Hodne, Richard Green, Sandy (Gregg) Filsinger and Charles (Colleen) Green; her grandchildren, Alyssa (Wayne) Schaefbauer, Travis Hodne, Justin Hodne, Andrew Green, Karen Green; step-grandchildren, Danie (Joe) Smith, Tim Feekes, Julia (Nick) Sundstrom Lyle; great-grandchildren, Stan Hodne, Alex, Rylon and Breana Schaefbauer, Harlie Auch, Carly Feekes, Kodi and Colton Smith, Nova and Jude Sundstrom Lyle. Florence is also survived by her two sisters, Fern Peterson and Mary Jean Rogness.

Funeral services will be 10:30AM Monday, February 3, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3PM Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Wass Funeral Chapel in Alcester.
