Evelyn Ruth (Johnson) Adams was born to Edius and Randina (Brandlee) Johnson on June 9, 1926, on the Johnson home place southwest of Irene, SD. She went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2017, at the age of 91 years and 11 days at Bethesda of Beresford.

Evelyn was raised southwest of Irene on the family farm and attended school through the 8th grade. She moved to Beresford as a young lady and waited tables at the Green Globe Café where she met the love of her life, Joseph (Jack) Adams. Jack and Evelyn were married for 65 years and to this marriage they added four children, Doug, Dean, Marsha, and Joe. Evelyn loved to work and serve people. She worked at Tolly's, Truck Towne, and Conklin's. After working in cafes for many, many years, she went to work for Hill Pharmacy (or in Evelyn's words, "Hill's Pills") and worked there until she retired.

Evelyn loved many things but being with her family topped the list. Her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids always put a smile on her face. She loved meeting with her friends daily for coffee, making the best pumpkin bars, cervelat sandwiches, all her watches, and being called Grandma Goose or GG!

Jack and Evelyn moved to Bethesda in 2013. Evelyn continued residing there after Jack's passing in December of 2013. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and a 65-year member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Blessed to have been part of her life are her children, Doug and wife Rita, Dean, Marsha and husband Dave, all of Beresford, and Joe and wife Tanya of Sioux Falls, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren – Matthew (Mikala Larsen) Adams and their son, Wesley; Jill Adams and her son, Dayshon; Lucas (Katie) Adams and their children, Finley, Maya, Hattie, and Lucy; Jeramie (Kristi) Adams and their children, Jace, Alex, and Greyson; Chad (Amy) Nelson; Adam (Michelle) Nelson and their children, Brynn and Cooper; Andrea (Chris) Anderson and their children, Denver and Emmarie; Ryan (Monica) Nelson and their children, Scott, Jaycie, and Keaton; Mary (Trevor) Hansen and their children, Adyson, Bergen, and Camryn; Brooke (Cass) Pierce and their child due in December; Nick Adams; Alex Cain; and Ashlee Cain. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lois Johnson, JoAnn Graham, and Donna Poeppel and brothers-in-law, Dennis Adams and Patrick Adams, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Her husband, Jack, her parents, two brothers, Don and Olin Johnson, daughter-in-law Pat Moerke, along with in-laws preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 23, 2017, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with burial to follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
