Eva Marie (Kumm) Hansen was born December 31, 1921 at Bazile Mills, NE to parents Carl and Anna (Scheer) Kumm. She died May 9, 2006 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 8 days. Eva attended school in Nebraska. She married Palmer Larson in 1945. She then married Mike Gerhardt Hansen on March 3, 1953. She moved to South Dakota in 1957 and resided in the Dalesburg area. She worked at various jobs in the Vermillion area and later retired from the University of South Dakota where she worked as a janitor. Eva was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Nebraska and later became associated with Dalesburg Lutheran Church. Her hobbies and interests included fishing and baking. Eva was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved to watch and listen to them play. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Her survivors include 4 children: Franklin Kumm and wife Marabeth of Beresford, Bob Larson and wife Beverly of ONeill, NE, Judy Lundberg and husband Merle of Hawarden, IA, and James Hansen and wife Evelyn of Perryville, MD; 2 sisters: Bertha Bohren of Creighton, NE and Luella Bobb of Blavia, OH; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be 2:30PM, Friday, May 12 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 6:30PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
