Ethel Anderson (Fickbohm), 102, finished her journey here on earth on October 7, 2013 and is now with her Lord and Savior. She passed away at Morningside Manor in Alcester, South Dakota. Ethel was born to Walter and Mary (Kiewel) Fickbohm on May 8, 1911. She was baptized May 28, 1911 and confirmed September 27, 1925 at Peace Lutheran Church. She lived her entire life in Union County, SD. On April 4, 1933 Ethel married Oscar Anderson in the parsonage in Canton, South Dakota. To this union five children were born. They spent many enjoyable years together farming. In addition to farm work, Ethel enjoyed spending time tending her flowers and vegetable gardens. She was well known for her expertise in cooking and baking pies at local restaurants. Ethel leaves to celebrate her memory four children, Lillian (Daniel) Fox of Sioux Falls, SD, Lucile (Dan) Sandven of Hill City, SD, Orlin (Karen) Anderson of Webster, WI and Alan (Karen) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Barb Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Oscar; son, Loren; parents, Walter and Mary Fickbohm; and siblings, Alfred, Alvin, Pearl, Walt, Herb and Vern preceded her in death. The family expresses their sincere thanks for Ethel's care during her stay at Morningside Manor, to Asera Hospice Care and to Pastor Garren Pay for his compassion and many visits. Funeral services will be 2PM Friday, October 11, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester with Rev. Dan Redhage officiating. Visitation will be 12-2PM Friday at the church.
