Ervin Prentice York, age 81, of Centerville, SD passed peacefully at the Sioux Falls Veteran's Hospital after a prolonged illness.

He is survived his loving wife of 59 years, Rosa Belle York; his eldest daughter Martha Lynne Riley; and two sons, Timothy Mitchell York and David Ervin York. He is also survived by two grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, a beloved daughter-in-law, Ellen York; and his hunting partner and beloved son-in-law, William Michael Riley.

Ervin was a military veteran serving overseas in Europe and was very active in many churches and organizations. His greatest pleasure was singing gospel music in church and he was an avid outdoors-man. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and goodwill and too many wonderful friends and deeds to recount. His smiling, warm demeanor and easy sense of humor, as well as his love, will be sorely missed.
