Emma M. Wagter, 84 of Beresford died June 14, 2006 at a Sioux Falls hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17th at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Emma Lawrenson was born March 29, 1922 in Pedro, SD to parents Christ M. and Margaret H. (Hamann) Lawrenson. She died June 14, 2006 at Sioux Falls at the age of 84 years, two months and 15 days. Emma was raised in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School. She worked at Green Globe Caf prior to marrying John Wagter on December 25, 1943 in Platte, SD. They lived in Beresford where they raised their three daughters. Emma was a member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Following Johns death in 1996, Emma continued to live in Beresford. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word searches and loved to visit. Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Roger) Jacob of Beresford, Kay (Kendal) Swee of Burbank and Kristi (David) Bye of Beresford; eight grandchildren, Shawn Jacob, Jeremy Jacob, Noelle Muller, Troy Swee, Jennifer OConnell, Stephanie Peterson, Jana Pederson and Carrie Bye; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers Martin (Betty) Lawrenson of Beresford and Bill Lawrenson of Beresford. Preceding Emma in death were her parents; husband, John; three brothers, Clifford Lawrenson, Lawrence Tiny Lawrenson and Clarence Lawrenson; and three sisters, Lillian Kribell, Katherine Lawrenson and Carrie Schnose.
