Elvera Heinzman was born August 1, 1944 in Canton, SD to parents Ingvald and Esther (Petersen) Ekle. She died July 28, 2012 at Morningside Care Center in Alcester, SD at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 27 days. Elvera attended Moe rural school and graduated from Alcester High School in 1963. She married Don Heinzman on February 14, 1967 at Lands Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Beresford most of their married lives. Elvera worked at Morningside Manor and Coil Craft. She moved to Morningside Care Center in 2005 and has resided there until the current time. Don passed away in June of 2007. Elvera was baptized and confirmed at Lands Lutheran Church and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church while living in Beresford. She was in 4-H when she was young, and loved horses and riding horseback. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister Arlene. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Dawn (Tony) Gross, Jefferson, SD and Christal (Scott) Stoker, Vermillion; son Donald (Janet), Sioux Falls; 7 grandchildren, Josh, Steve and Zach Gross, Jessica, Robert and Christina Stoker, and Katie Heinzman; 2 step-grandchildren, Katie and Laura Lonning; her brother Nels (Betty) Ekle; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 31 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with burial at Lands Lutheran Cemetery, rural Canton. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
