Elizabeth Anne Pozensny Ullmann was born July 16, 1920 in Germany to parents Johann Pozesny and Charolette Gonschorowski (Lewald). She died January 19, 2015 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford. Growing up Elizabeth lived in the country of Prussia helping her mother and father run their business. She experienced difficult times during WWII, and during that time Elizabeth and her sister were separated from their parents. After her sister was married she helped take of her sister's children while she and her husband ran a grocery store. Elizabeth received her education in business. After the war she was employed by German Government in Agriculture located in Itzehoe, Germany. While working there she received the opportunity to submit an application to relocate and come to the United States. She arrived in New York in 1957. Elizabeth's first employment in the United States was a Nanny due to the child care she provided to her sisters children. She enjoyed the fine arts and living in New York City. She met her future husband John Ullman, a Dentist and married him at St. Teresa's Catholic Church Beresford, South Dakota on July 23, 1962. Elizabeth helped John run his Dental business as a Dental Assistant. In 1963 Elizabeth became a US citizen. She joined the Beresford General Federated Women's Study Club, became a member of Beresford American Legion Auxiliary and the Beresford Veterans of Foreign War Women's Auxiliary. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband John Ullman, her parents Johann and Charolette Pozensny, her sister Ilse Lehwald.
