Obituary

Elizabeth J. Sebern was born June 2, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska to parents Sidney and Theresa (Kirsenbach) Brick. She died June 24, 2012 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 90 years and 22 days. Betty graduated from Cathedral High School in Lincoln, NE in 1940. She married Richard Sebern in 1941. The couple moved to Beresford in 1971 and owned and operated Sebern Construction. They retired in 1991 and moved into Beresford where Betty resided until the present time. Before moving into town, Betty was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Garryowen. She later became a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker. Betty loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and avidly followed all of their school activities and sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband Richard Sebern; daughter Gay Erks; two sons, Mike Sebern and his wife Rosie and Bill Sebern and wife Linda all of Beresford; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30AM, Wednesday, June 27 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford with burial to follow at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM at the church with a wake service at 7PM.
