Eleanor Victoria Kylling Lass was born on the family homestead near Beresford on November 5th, 1918 to parents Ludwig and Anna Kylling. Eleanor died May 16th 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 91 years.
Eleanor graduated from Beresford High School and eloped with Thomas Francis Lass on April 20th 1942. The couple lived in Phillip, Rapid City and a farm south of Beresford. They moved to Beresford in the early 1962. Tom died in January 1975.
In Beresford, Eleanor worked for many years at the Bakery and also at Ralphs Super Value Grocery store. She worked for approximately 25 years at Bethesda Nursing Home as a nurses aid. While at the nursing home, Eleanor provided loving care to many residents and was a good friend to all employees.
Eleanor was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Her hobbies and interests included crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening, reading, baking and cooking. She spent many hours a day working puzzles and watching the Twin baseball games on TV.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and 4 sisters. Survivors include her beloved sister Grace Kylling Kennedy (Beresford), daughter Kathy (Ken Briggeman of Hamilton, MT), son Thomas F. Lass, JR (Becky Case of Columbia, SC) and daughter Elizabeth (Paul Mittelstaedt of Graham, WA). Additional survivors include 5 grandaughters, 8 great grand children, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at 10:00AM, Wednesday, May 19th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. A private graveside service will be held later that afternoon.
