Duane Leroy Lundquist, 90, of Beresford, S. Dak., was welcomed home by his Savior on Sat., Feb. 16, 2013 as he passed away in the care of Hospice at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S. Dak. Duane was born December 20, 1922 to Erick and Elizabeth (Meleen) Lundquist in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended Komstad School and graduated from Brookings School of Agricultural. After high school, Duane briefly attended University of South Dakota toward a teaching degree. Duane was drafted into the military, however due to his brothers already serving; he was required to stay home and farm with his family. Duane was united in marriage to Marjory (Marge) Ann Salberg on July 12, 1975 at The Little Brown Church in Nasua, Iowa. Through their years of marriage, they fostered ten children and with open hearts created a family in 1989 through the adoption of five children. Duane is remembered as a man devoted to his faith that was coupled with his humble and gentle spirit. He attended Dalesburg Baptist Church his entire life. He was a man that loved the land. He was a farmer and gardener all the days of his life. While raising his family, he enjoyed vacationing in Okoboji, Iowa where he and Marge enjoyed antique shopping. During his life, he was a father-like figure for nieces and nephews. Memories of him include water skiing at Lewis & Clark Lake, homemade root beer and ice-cream floats, the gift of music that had a mellow, pitch-perfect voice which was one of kind, hunting, and he was an uncle that was desired to be like. It was his hope that all would have a fun time. Duane will be dearly missed by his children: Travis Lundquist, Orlando, Fla.; Tiffanie Hulstein, Sioux Falls, S. Dak.; Rhonda (Dan) Aday, Beresford, S. Dak.; Stacie (Clint) Jordan, Blaine, Minn.; and Cassaundra Lundquist, Sioux Falls, S. Dak. He also was loved by six grandchildren, Analis, Anthony and Natascha Dannen; Madelyn Aday; and Makayla and Alex Jordan. Duane is preceded in death by his wife, parents and four siblings. Funeral services will be 2PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Dalesburg Baptist Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be 2-8PM Tuesday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6-8PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
