On September 14, 2022, Doyle Anthony Barnes, beloved by many, passed on at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Cheverly, Maryland, Doyle was the sixth of ten children. After some moving around, the family eventually settled in Alcester, SD where they enjoyed a rich childhood on "Happy Hill."

He married the love of his life, Crystal, in 1980, and together they raised three children in Beresford, South Dakota.

Doyle had a beautiful singing voice, a mischievous sense of humor, and an unrelenting drive to make his family proud—something he did well and often. He was a natural leader, taking on titles including small business owner, church deacon, school board member, First Lieutenant, commander of the VFW, counselor, friend, and above all else, a man of faith.

His kindness and generosity are well-storied. Never could he pass a broken-down stranger on a highway without offering anything he had to help them, with nothing asked for in return but their life story and a promise to pay it forward.

In lieu of food or flowers, we humbly encourage you to do as Doyle would and help a stranger in need.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Betty Barnes; and his brother, David Sigman. He is survived by his wife, Crystal; his children, Kelsey, Jeremy and Kiley; six grandkids, eight siblings and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be 10AM Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 at Dalesburg Baptist Church, 30503 466th Ave., Beresford, SD. Burial will be at the SD State Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation with the family present will be 5-7PM Thursday, Sept. 22 ^nd at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with a 7PM prayer service.
