Douglas J. Hustrulid was born August 8, 1957 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Vernon and Mary Ellen (Henle) Hustrulid. He died October 24, 2015 in Beresford, SD at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 16 days. Doug graduated from Beresford High School in 1975. He had started working at the Beresford Republic when he was in high school and later purchased the paper with Dwayne Straw. Doug was currently employed at Berry Plastic in Sioux Falls and has been a lifelong resident of Beresford. His hobbies and interests included John Wayne movies, demolition derbies, remote control airplanes and his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his son Michael (Katelynn) Aberle; grandchildren Ashton and Makia; his mother Mary Ellen Hustrulid; brother Steve (Darlene) Hustrulid; sister Diane (Doug) Nickel; and his nieces and nephews Alise, Tyler, Kari, Matthew and Timothy. He was preceded in death by his father Vernon and a nephew in infancy. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with burial to follow at the Beresford Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 5PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
