Dorthy Jean Voegeli Nothdurft passed away August 31, 2025.  Dorthy was born August 4, 1936 to Erwin and Mrytle Voegeli.  She received her education in Brandon High School.  She married Melvin Nothdurft August 18, 1954.  They started farming in 1955 and settled their own farm in 1962 in the Beresford area.  Together they raised 5 children, Rick (Roxanne), Dan (Roxie), June (David), Jill (Jim), and Dale (Mikel).

A loving Mother, Grandma, and devoted farm wife whose warmth, humor, and steadfast support shaped the lives of everyone around her.  She loved to help others, especially in    4-H and youth activities.  Dorthy was selected into the South Dakota Hall of Fame for the Eminent Homemaker in 1993.  Her legacy will live on through her recipes such as pies, cookies, and breads.

How fitting was it for Dorthy to leave this earth on August 31, 2025 which was State Fair week.  This was her favorite week of the year.  She cherished family gatherings, playing games, cooking and caring for everyone.

Dorthy served as a leader in the following organizations: 4-H, SDSU Extension, SDSU State Advisory Board, numerous local organizations and clubs.    She was a volunteer for various organizations which gave her so much joy and a lifelong member of Beresford Zion United Methodist Church.

Dorthy is survived by her children, 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, her Brother Lester Voegeli and numerous nieces and nephews.  Dorthy was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, sons Rick and Jeffrey, parents Erwin and Mrytle, brother Dick Voegeli, sisters Flora Mae Zweep and Karen Scott, numerous brother and sister in-laws.
