Dody Hevle Weiland was born December 25 ^th 1933 to Irving and Faye (Baker) Hevle in Yankton, SD. She died Oct 3, 2022 in Beresford, SD at the age of 88 years.

Dody attended Scotland school and graduated from high school in 1952. She married Darrell Weiland on May 9 ^th 1954 when Darrell was home on leave from the Navy. They moved to Freeman, SD where Darrell worked as a coach and teacher. In 1964 the couple moved to Beresford where they raised their family. While living in Beresford, Dody spent many years babysitting several children in Beresford – some who eventually took care of Dody in her later years at the Bethesda nursing home.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, JoLee (Larry) Andrews of Beresford and Jill (Brian) Peterson of Vale, SD; son, Joe Weiland of Sturgis SD; her grandchildren, Shaun (Krista) Andrews of Beresford, Tara (Brad) Kappenman of Albuquerque, NM, Jason (Kiandra) Andrews of Beresford, Brian (Jessica) Weiland of Beresford, Becky (Benjamin) Waterman of Hawarden, IA, Joey (Dominique) Weiland of Chetek, WI, Jamie (Ryan) Smeenk of Vale, SD, Michael Peterson of Lincoln, ND, and Whitney (Clay Heidrich) Peterson of Newell, SD; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brody Andrews of Beresford, Morgan, Jamel, Mea, Mason, Marshal, Zeena, Lincoln Kappenman all of Albuquerque, Taelin, Ashton, Annika and Mila Andrews of Beresford, Jalyn, Josie, Jordy and Brielle Weiland of Beresford, Lane and Leigha Sohl of Hawarden, Gracie Weiland of Sturgis, Tayten, Tanner and Tillee Smeenk of Vale, Gracie, Maggie, and Owen Peterson of Lincoln, and Rhyden and Camden Peterson of Newell, SD.  Also surviving is her sister, Lori Boyd of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Robert (Marty) Ritter of Brookings, SD; brother-in-law, Bob Parlet; and sister-in-law, Carol (Curtis) Hofer of Scotland, SD.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Darrell; two brothers, Gary and Brent Hevle of CA; sister-in-law, Alice Parlet; and granddaughter-in-law, Jen Weiland.

Memorial services will be 11AM Friday, October 7, 2022 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford.
