Dorothy Mae Klosterman (nee Johnson), age 94, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the presence of her three children. Born March 9, 1919 in Hawarden, Iowa and raised on the Johnson family homestead farm three miles east of Alcester, South Dakota. Graduate of South Dakota State University and Alcester High School where she later taught Home Economics and English also at Big Springs. Preceded in death by loving husband of 62 years, Paul; parents, Axel and Matilda Johnson; sisters, Elvira Dykes and Maurine Johnson; brother, Helmer Johnson. Survived by son, Rob (Jennie) Klosterman of Westerville, OH; daughters, Nancy (Charlie) Gardner of Silverthorne, CO and Paula (Urs) Leuenberger of Hershey, PA; granddaughters, Ellen, Andrea and Laura Leuenberger (Keith Orejel), and Samantha Klosterman; nieces, Barbara Demaray and Margaret Addington; nephews, Richard and Peter Klosterman. In addition to teaching, Dorothy worked at a Singer store in Beverly Hills, CA during WWII. Over the years in addition to her commitment to raising her children, she was active in Women's Club, 4-H, Scouts, the Worthington Presbyterian Church and Worthington Schools. In their retirement years Dorothy and Paul enjoyed many hobbies and treasured the resulting friendships. Dorothy will be deeply missed by family and friends. Friends may call 6-8 PM Sunday and from 10 to 11 AM Monday, September 2, 2013 at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, where the Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will be 11AM Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at Nathanael Cemetery, Alcester, SD.
