Funeral services for Doris Larson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Alcester United Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7th at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester with the family present from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Doris C. Larson was born September 30, 1912 to parents Arthur Dale and Bessie Sarah (Fosgate) Disbrow in Alcester, South Dakota. She passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside at Morningside Care Center in Alcester at the age of 94 years, five months and five days. Doris was raised and attended school in Alcester. She married Rolland Larson October 27, 1928. Doris had many professions in her life; for many years Doris and a lady friend painted and wallpapered many homes. She then worked at Coilcraft in Canton, SD and Hawarden, IA. Doris worked as a nurses aid at Mapes Nursing Home in Hawarden and at Morningside Care Center in Alcester; she also worked for a time at H & N grocery store in Alcester. Doris was a member of the United Church of Christ in Alcester; she was one of the oldest living members. Her grandfather, A.S. Disbrow, whom she cared for in her home until his death, was one of the charter members of the church. Survivors who gratefully shared her life include one daughter, Bess Naeve of Alcester; one son, Rolland Larson of Placerville, CA; 12 grandchildren, Harold Naeve, Kathleen Burch, Donald Jervik, James Jervik, Debra Sommervold, David Jervik, Lance Larson, Tanya Grimes, Cynthia Smiley, Susan Kinsley, John Daniel Larson and Lisa Trujillo; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents; husband, Rolland Larson; one son, John H. Larson; one daughter, Beverly Jervik; five sisters and one brother preceded Doris in death.
