Dora Minnie Jensen was born March 20, 1909 in Beresford, SD, to parents Magnus and Anna (Bergquist) Jensen. She died April 4, 2012 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 103 years and 14 days. Dora lived in Lyman County near Kennebec, SD from the age of 4 months to two years and spent the rest of her life in Beresford. She attended Prospect Hill and Danefield Country Schools and graduated from Beresford High School in 1928. Dora was an only child but deeply loved the four foster cousins that her parents raised after the death of the cousins parents in 1924. Ardis, Tilman, Virgil and Everett Johnson were as close as siblings to Dora all of their lives. Dora has been a long time member of Komstad Covenant Church. She taught Sunday School for 33 years and was the church pianist for 25 years. Dora was a big help to her parents both inside and outside at the farm. She drove the horses and tractor helping her father in the field. Dora had seen many big changes in her lifetime. The highlight of her life was a wonderful trip to Sweden in 1976. Dora moved into Beresfordin 1963 with her father after her mother passed away. She became a resident at Bethesda in 2003 and has resided there until the present time. She was preceded in death by her parents and four foster cousins. Those who survive are her foster nieces and nephews; Mary Ann (John) Carleton, Beverly (Rudy) Simpson, William (Patty) Riehe and Alan (Terry) Johnson and their families. Lorraine Carlson and family and Meril Tschudy and family were also a very important part of Dora's life along with many of her dear church friends. Memorials may be directed to the Komsatd Covenant Church or to the Komstad Cemetery. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Monday, April 9, 2012 at Komstad Covenant Church, rural Beresford with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
