A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Alcester Baptist Church in Alcester, SD. Donna Lee Sammie Atha was born August 29, 1945 in Roy, Washington. She died February 4, 2007 in Canton, South Dakota at the age of 61 years, five months and five days. Sammie was raised by her stepfather and mother, Mark and Margaret (Miles) Marshall. She lived in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arizona and Texas. Following high school, Sammie worked at various jobs while raising her two sons. She was also employed as a bartender and with an oilfield company. Her husband, James Atha and her mother, Margaret preceded her in death. Sammie was very patriotic and a cowgirl at heart, she loved horses and rodeos. Her hobbies included dancing, shooting pool, throwing darts and collecting dream catchers. In March of 2006, Sammie moved to Alcester to be near her friends. She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Lisa) Adams of Sophia, NC and Dallas (Chinle) Nelson of Ulysses, KS; two daughters, Bobbi Jo Kramer of Beatrice, NE and Jenny (Jeff) Groves of Alma, NE; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; stepfather, Mark Marshall of Fremont, NE; three brothers, Dennis (Susan) Bayliff, Michael Harms and Jerry (Jeannie) Bayliff all of Fremont, NE and two sisters, Sherry Qualls of Fremont, NE and Kathy (Don) Darling of Shelby, NE.
