Donna Lou (Wheeler) Keiser was born March 13, 1927 to Bert and Mollie (Graham) Wheeler in Alcester, South Dakota. She went to her Heavenly Home on October 5, 2022 at the age of 95 years. Donna had been a resident of the Bethesda Retirement Home in Beresford since November of 2020.

Donna was baptized and confirmed in the United Church of Christ in Alcester and a lifelong member. In her younger years, Donna played piano for opening exercises of Sunday School and she also served the church as a deaconess. During her high school years Donna worked at the Barrymore Theater in Alcester. In the summer of 1944, Donna and an Alcester friend worked on a ship in Portland, Oregon to aid the war effort. Donna attended General Beadle Normal School in Madison, SD and received her teaching degree. She taught at the Rainy Vale, Big Springs and Finn rural schools.

She married Clayton Keiser in 1947. She and Clayton were blessed with four sons, Don, Vance, Mark and Lynn. Donna worked at Morningside Manor for over 35 years. She was a dietician as well as a receptionist in her years at the Manor. Clayton passed away in 2004 after 57 years of marriage.

Her favorite role in life was that of Grandmother. She and Clayton would light up when the grand kids showed up. They kept her and Clayton young!

Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Vance Keiser, Mark Keiser and Lynn Keiser; five grandchildren, Tammi, Tara, Chad, Matthew and Thomas; and six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brenden, Kaia, Sydney, Isaac and Ivan. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clayton; son, Don; brother, Kermit; and two sisters, Eloise and Gale.

Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Alcester United Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester. Visitation will be 5-7PM Monday at the church.
