Donna Fay Olsen was born February 13th, 1934 in Union County, South Dakota to Mabel Olsen and Laverne Lundberg. Her step dad was Gust Steeneck. She was born into eternal life Thursday March 21st, 2024 at Alcester Care and Rehab at the age of 90 years, one month and eight days. She was baptized and confirmed at Roseni Lutheran Church. She attended Star Country School for eight years then graduated from Alcester High School May 15th, 1952. Donna married the love of her life Marlin Jurgensen February 12th, 1954. They were married 67 ½ years and were blessed with three children, Ramona, James and Rhonda.

She was raised on a farm southwest of Alcester by her grandparents Mary and John Olsen. After marrying Marlin, they lived in a one room house in Chatsworth, Iowa then returned to Alcester where she lived the rest of her life.

She was a stay at-home mom for many years doing in home day care. Later Donna got a job at the Alcester Post Office then the Sioux Falls post office. She retired after 19 years of service.

Donna loved to sew, bowl, taught Sunday School, and have coffee with her friends. Once you met her you were her friend forever. The couple loved attending music functions and sporting events for their grandkids. They enjoyed vacations in the Black Hills and trips to Arizona for 13 years. Donna loved cooking and often took meals to people who were sick. Some favorites were meatballs, potato salad, barbeque ribs and fried chicken. Donna was very fond of Coca-Cola and chocolate, especially later in life.

She had an amazing rapport with animals and her family took in and adopted many strays.
